I grew up in Dallas, TX in a fairly normal home with a mom, a dad, a genius brother and about a million cats. As a result, I am a competitive, but friendly, cat-hater with an unusual obsession about wiping the kitchen counter.

I met my wife of 15 years in college and we embarked on the adventure of getting to know each other before we had our daughter...she's 2.  What can I say?  My wife's hard to get to know...or maybe I'm just dense.

I've always loved music and as a child spent a lot of hours practicing piano when I should have been playing football or soccer or storming the castle.  So I have no athletic motor skills...read: throws like a girl.  I discovered a love for acting in college and added theatre as a major when I only had one semester before graduation...7 years later, I finished my bachelor's degree.

I joke about it, but a love of learning in part of my core identity...besides, getting a job is scary.

I tried working on-staff in a church and decided that was not my bag.  But after a few years and a little prayer and reflection, I decided that maybe a different kind of church would suit me just fine...

A church that places a higher priority on loving people than on changing them...where "community" means that we are authentic, honest and transparent, not that we starch our trousers and play golf together...where that kind of naked honesty is met with compassion and support, not judgement and condemnation...where people can experiment and evolve their personal ministries to God's glory, not get shoved into a business-as-usual, one-size-fits-all church program...

I thought it was a pipe-dream...but I think we've found that church...and now the fun begins...
